A French Press is a coffee brewing method made popular by the French. The coffee produced is in contact with the coffee grounds longer than most methods and is not filtered by paper, thus retaining its natural oils. This results in a thicker, more flavorful cup of coffee.

Most presses require the coffee to be served after the brewing period, since the coffee remains in contact with the grounds, and it will quickly be overextracted and bitter if not served.

Many coffee connoisseur’s prefer this way of making coffee, even over espresso. If you’re used to paper-filtered coffee, it’s possible coffee produced in a French Press may take some getting used to.

  1. nice - read more at my page

  2. Where can I get the glass of the french press. I just broke it again. I cant see spending another 40 dollars for the whole thing just to get the glass.

Is there a brand that has a thicker glass jar so that it doesnt break so easy?

  3. It depends on the brand, but they often sell the glass separately for about $10-15. You can look on Amazon.com or bodumusa.com. You can also consider a thermal french press, which is made of metal. It’s a slightly different flavor, but isn’t going to break very easily.
