If you’re going to hike or backpack, weight may be an issue. A plastic French press may be ideal in that case. If weight is not a concern, a metal one is an option. Best backcountry press is the one made by Jet Boil. It works in the standard Jet Boil and adds only a few ounces to your load. Breaks down for easy storage inside the Jet Boil. I’ve carried mine on the AT, across the new Mexico desert and many places inbetween. I like it so much I’ve even used it at home.
